An Evening at Camp, Early Bird Registration, & more!

Early Bird Registration

The early bird gets the frog! This year, campers who register before April 1st receive a special gift in the mail: a free Skye Farm keychain frog plushie!

Not only does registering early get your camper a fun frog friend, it also helps guarantee a spot in their preferred program, before cabins start to fill. For example, two programs already racing to fill the quickest this year are Rocks, Ropes, & Rivers and New Kids on the Dock.

Registering early also helps us in the Skye Farm office to plan for the summer more effectively, and it gives us more time to help families with things like health paperwork, scholarships, installment payments, and more.

An Evening at Camp: Skye Farm Foundation Dinner

Tickets are on sale now for the Skye Farm Foundation’s 3rd Annual “An Evening at Camp” dinner! This year’s dinner is on Saturday, April 18th at Shenendehowa UMC, with doors opening at 5pm.

We'll be sharing a delicious meal prepared by familiar faces from the Skye Farm kitchen, listening and singing along with Skye Farm musicians, browsing new camp merchandise, and raising funds to support the long-term future of Skye Farm. This year’s menu will feature multiple different pasta entrees with salad, homemade bread, and some camp favorite desserts!

NEW this year, we will be offering takeout dinner tickets in addition to the tickets to the in-person dinner. Takeout meals will be available with advance ticket purchase only, and can be picked up between 6pm and 7pm on the night of the dinner.

This year's dinner will also serve as the kick-off event for our first ever online auction benefiting Skye Farm! This multi-day auction will be available online for anyone to participate in, and is not restricted to attendees of the dinner. Folks at the dinner in person will get the chance to kick off the bidding and peruse some of the auction items in person. More information about the online auction to come!

Summer Staff Hiring Update

While many of our summer staff positions for 2026 have been filled, we are still accepting applications for:

  • male counselors (18+, starting at $330/week)

  • kitchen assistants (16+, starting at $280/week)

  • lifeguards (one 17+position remaining, starting at $330/week)

  • waterfront director (21+ with lifeguard management experience, $600/week)

Working at camp is one of the most meaningful ways you can spend your summer. For many, it's their first job, and they're learning what it means to work on a team and growing their independence and problem-solving skills. For others, it's a way to gain invaluable experience working with kids as they pursue a career in education, or the first step in exploring a call to ministry.

For many at Skye Farm especially, it's a way to give back to the camp they loved as a camper, providing safe and memorable experiences for the next generation of campers. For all of us on staff, it's an experience filled with personal growth, life-long friendships, and fun-filled community!

The Power of Word-of-Mouth

New people find out about Skye Farm in many ways: Google searches, church visits, advertisements, social media, etc. But by far the most effective method is simple word-of-mouth! When we ask new camper families how they heard about Skye Farm, more often than not they tell us about a family member, friend, neighbor, coworker, or church member that encouraged them to give camp a try. It makes sense— sending your child to sleepaway camp requires a lot of trust, and making that decision is far easier when someone you trust can vouch for the experience and share information with you.

Supporters of Skye Farm, like all of you subscribed to this newsletter, can help the continued growth of our summer camp programs by sharing about camp with a child or parent in your life. Plant the seed— even if they’re not ready to try sleepaway camp this year, maybe they’d like to come to our open house or family camp.

One easy way to start that conversation with someone could be to share with them the video below. It’s the first in a series of videos we’ll be sharing this spring that answer a bunch of frequently asked questions we get about summer camp, with this first video answering the broad question of “What is summer camp at Skye Farm like?”

Church Visit Season Continues

The church visits that we’ve done so far this year have been wonderful, and there are more to come! These visits allow us to spend time in worship and fellowship with the congregations of our campers, supporters, and neighbors, share brochures and information about this year’s camp and retreat programs, talk with church members about the process of sending kids to summer camp, and explore more ways we can partner with local churches.

Skye Farm church visits can include one of our staff sharing a children’s message, sharing about what Skye Farm does and what we’re up to this year during an announcement time, bringing special camp activities to a Sunday School class, chatting and sharing with church members during an after-church coffee hour, joining in a youth group gathering, or whatever other creative ways churches come up with to integrate camp into their church experience!

If you’re interested in coordinating a visit to your church on a future Sunday, reach out to us at [email protected]. While we may not be able to visit every church, if our schedules don’t align we can still provide you with materials like brochures, videos, and photos to incorporate at your church.

Thursday Crew News

Anyone who has been inside Conklin Lodge, the multi-purpose program space built on the hill in 2020, knows that the lovely high vaulted ceiling can unfortunately make the space a bit echoey. Never fear, the Thursday Crew is here! Members of the crew have been hard at work building 8 sound-dampening baffles and installing them on the ceiling.

These panels should help decrease the echo effect in the space, and are the first of a few planned improvements to Conklin Lodge that should make the space even better for both summer camp use and use as a meeting and activity space for retreats.

Other ongoing Thursday Crew projects include the construction of new benches, towel hooks, and more for the updated Central Washhouse, updates in the Ogden basement, refinishing work on the floors of various summer camp cabins, and repairs and staining of some picnic table tops.
