Program Spotlight: Adventure Programs
Each month in the lead-up to summer, we’ll be spotlighting some of this year’s summer camp programs. This month, we’re excited to share with you our adventure programs for 2025!
![]() Rocks, Ropes, & Rivers campers in 2024 | Off-site adventure programs have been a huge part of the Skye Farm experience for most of our history. We’re blessed to be located in an area with world-class mountains, forests, and waterways to hike, paddle, and explore, and we value the opportunity to get kids out of their comfort zone and into the wild of the Adirondacks. Adventure programs offer unique chances to bond with other campers, increase campers’ self-confidence, and grow in appreciation for God’s creation. |
Rocks, Ropes, & Rivers has been one of our most popular programs over the past decade. Campers ages 13-17 go on a series of day trips, including whitewater rafting down the Upper Hudson, off-site canoeing, tackling the high ropes course at ADK Extreme, and hiking to stunning views of the Adirondacks. This year, we have two sessions of RRR, July 6-11 and August 3-8.
ADK Adventures is our program for younger campers interested in getting a first taste of adventure programs. It’s a classic camp program, with added emphasis on nature activities, on-site hikes, and a sleepout in tents or hammocks. It’s open to campers ages 8-15, with the 12-15 age group doing an off-site trip to the high ropes course at ADK Extreme. ADK Adventures is running July 13-18.
ADK Island Paddle marks the return of overnight off-site programs to Skye Farm post pandemic! Campers ages 13-17 will pack up canoes and kayaks and embark on an easy-going 4-day trip with their counselors and certified Adirondack Guide Terry Lasher. ADK Island Paddle is running July 20-25.
Summer camp registrations are rolling in! Remember to check out all of this year’s programs (click here to view on our website) and share with the people in your life who could benefit from time at camp! Word of mouth from trusted friends, family, and congregation members is one of the best ways to get kids to try out camp for the first time. Need camp brochures? Thursday Crew News
Cold wintry Thursdays aren’t enough to slow our amazing Thursday Crew volunteers down! A special project in the works that we’d like to highlight this month is the renovation of the Loon and Schroon cabins. Formerly known as the Jr. Director and Jr. High Director cabins, these two cabins have housed countless volunteers and summer staff over many many summers. As part of our ongoing effort to provide updated lodging for staff, these cabins are getting new windows, interior walls and ceilings, lighting, and furniture. Once completed, these cabins will each have two private bedrooms with sliding barn doors, a cozy common area, and a small porch, and will overall offer more privacy, keep pests out, and be easier to clean.
The work for this project is being done completely by volunteers, and is made possible by a generous grant from the Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church GROWTH Fund (Gifts, Renewal, Outreach, Witness, Talents, & Help.) A big thank-you to EPUMC for making this possible!
Work in Loon (formerly Jr. High Director, located near Tucker Wash House) is well underway, and work in Schroon (formerly Jr. Director, located near Nair Wash House) is getting started. Renovations in both cabins will be completed before summer!
